Priorities (in order):

Values:

Sure, it sounds corny to be talking about priorities and values for an amateur yacht racing program, but crew should know what to expect, and what is expected of them.

Safety is an obvious first priority. Expect proper equipment, maintenance and procedures. Know your limits. Learn and participate in keeping everyone safe.

Fun - this is why we do this. Expect racing to be taken seriously and the atmosphere to be encouraging, constructive and light-hearted. No screaming allowed.

Winning is certainly fun, but not as important as knowing that the team sailed well and enjoyed the day. No one knows all there is to know about sailboat racing and we should all expect to continue to learn and improve.

Crew Manager is live!

See it at: https://mystic.crew-mgr.com/  and ask me for an invite

The Boat Book

The Boat Book will be on board and contain important documents, logs and other info, including emergency procedures. Those procedures will always be a work in process. By way of example, there is not currently any way to rig an emergency rudder (there is an emergency tiller though). Feel free to look through The Boat Book while on board but emergency procedures are at the bottom of this page should you wish to get familiar with them outside of boating hours.

Man Overboard - please read this Man Overboard summary from Yacht Scoring: Man Overboard Return and Recovery.indd (yachtscoring.com)

Medical Information Form:

The form below is mandatory for any race that may go past sunset and otherwise optional. Forms are available onboard or contact me and I will send a pdf. Fill it out, seal it in an envelope and write your name on the outside. The envelope will remain sealed unless it is needed in an emergency. Crew may take their envelope with them after the race.
